How to Make Disciples... or How to Build Healthy Relationships

We make disciples simply by building healthy relationships. So when we talk about How to Make Disciples, we can also say, How to Build Healthy Relationships.

So, how do we build healthy relationships?

There are three areas in which we invest ourselves in building healthy relationships. The important thing to remember here is that we must consistently and equally invest with all three areas or there might be dire consequences.  See the warning below.
So, here we go:

The first area we invest with is our HEAD.  This is where we Speak the Good News into others.  This is done in two ways:

1)      Directly share the Good News
2)      Indirectly share the Good News

The second area we invest with is our HEART.  This is where we are Empowered by the Holy Spirit.  In this area we are continually asking the Holy Spirit:

1)      “What’s next?”
2)      “How can I be a blessing in this situation?”
Remember I Timothy 2:1, I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.”

It’s in our hearts that we learn to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.

And the final area we invest with is our HANDS.  This is where we put our HEAD and HEART into action.  This is where we Show the Good News.

WARNING:  If we lean too heavy on any one area, it can spell disaster for our relationships and disciple making.  For example, if we only invest with our Head and only speak the Good News without sharing it with our Hands, then we will come across as a bully -- a bullhorn preacher.  This is not where you want to be nor does it benefit the Kingdom.
